Page Fee and Open Access Policy

Statement

The Dyke is an open-access, peer-reviewed multidisciplinary journal committed to the free dissemination of scholarly knowledge. In keeping with its institutional mandate and ethical publishing principles, the Journal does not charge any page fees, article processing charges (APCs), or publication fees to authors at any stage of the submission, review, or publication process.

Commitment to Open Access

All articles published in The Dyke are made freely and permanently accessible online immediately upon publication. Readers may view, download, and share published content without restriction, provided that proper citation and acknowledgement of the source are maintained, in accordance with the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) licence adopted by the Journal.

Institutional and Editorial Support

The costs of journal management, editorial processing, copy-editing, and digital hosting are fully supported by Midlands State University (MSU) through its Research and Innovation Division. This ensures that publication remains free to both authors and readers while maintaining rigorous academic and ethical standards.

No Hidden or Ancillary Charges

There are no hidden costs associated with manuscript submission, peer review, or publication. Authors are not required to make any payments for colour figures, supplementary materials, or online hosting. Likewise, reviewers and editorial board members provide their services on a voluntary, academic-citizenship basis.

Optional Services

If authors request optional post-publication services (such as printed copies of the journal issue or reprints), such requests will be considered separately and may attract a minimal cost to cover printing and postage. These services are entirely optional and unrelated to the publication of the article itself.

Ethical Assurance

The Dyke upholds the principles of transparency, fairness, and accessibility. The Journal strongly discourages any form of publication fee solicitation and warns authors to report any unauthorised requests for payment made in the Journal’s name to the Editor-in-Chief immediately.
